The above table does not include the Military Settlers, &c., numbering in the aggregate, with their families, 6,382
(see Table No. II). The numbers in the shipping in the various harbours have also been deducted from the population of the
respective Electoral Districts, so far as they could be ascertained from the returns yet received. These were-Mongonui:

M., 465; F., 7. Onehunga: M., 44; F., 3. Franklin: M., 59; F., 3. Raglan: M., 139; F., 5. New Plymouth: M.,
28. Wanganui: M., 7. Rangitiki: M., 3. City of Wellington: M., 86; F., 2. Napier: M., 63. City of Nelson: M.,
149; F., 9. Ellesmere (on board ships in Lyttelton harbour): M., 335; F., 18. Dunedin and suburbs (North): M., 357;
F., 26. Dunedin and suburbs (South): M., 135; F., 8. Wallace: M., 64; F., 1. The addition of the numbers of
Military Settlers, &c. (6,382), and of the persons in the shipping (2,135), to the above total for the Electoral Districts
(163,414), will bring out the general total of 171,931, shown in Table I. as the population of the Colony.
