HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct that the following
Despatch from His Grace the Duke of New-
castle should be published for general infor-
mation.

SIR, —I have to acknowledge the receipt of
the despatches of the numbers and dates
noted in the margin* forwarding copies of
despatches addressed to you by Lieut.-
Genral Cameron, reporting several encoun-
tesr that had taken place between the forces
under his command and the natives.
I have much pleasure in conveying to you
an expression of my satisfaction of the uni-
form good conduct of Her Majesty's troops
in this harassing description of warfare; and
also at the steadiness and efficiency shewn
by the Militia and Volunteers under Major
Lyon. And I cannot omit to notice espe-
cially the cool intelligence and energy dis-
played by Color-Sergeant MacKenna, upon
whom the command of a detachment devolved
after Capt. Swift had been killed and Lieut.
Butler severely wounded.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Sitting of
the Supreme Court, for the despatch of
Civil Business, will be holden at the
Court House, Queen Street, Auckland, on
MONDAY, the seventh day of March next, at
eleven o'clock in the forenoon; and that the
said Sitting, immediately upon the opening
of the Court, will be adjourned until eleven
o'clock of the forenoon of THURSDAY,
the seventh day of April next, at the
Court House aforesaid, at which time and
place all persons under Recognizance to
appear as Defendants or Witnesses are
required to give their attendance.

registered a Memorandum of Association,
with Articles of Association, establishing a
Company (with limited liability of the
Shareholders therein), entitled,
"THE CHRISTCHURCH BATHS' COMPANY,
(Limited),"
the objects of which are the erection of Baths,
to be used in such manner as the Directors of
the Company from time to time determine.
And that in pursuance of the provisions
of "The Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860,"
I have issued a Certificate of Incorporation
of the said Company, bearing date this
fourth day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty four.

NOTICE.
£100 REWARD.
WHEREAS by the breaking out of
the disease called Pleuro-pneumonia
among the cattle in the Province of Otago,
it is necessary strictly to enforce the prohibi-
tion of the introduction of cattle into the
Province of Canterbury from the said Pro-
vince either by land or sea; and whereas
certain Regulations to this effect have been
issued by His Honor the Superintendent :
Notice is hereby given that a reward of £100
will be given to any person who shall give
such information as shall lead to the convic-
tion of any person who shall drive or remove,
or cause to be driven or removed, or assist in
driving or removing any cattle from the said
infected district into the Province of Canter-
bury.
