THE following Letter, with its Enclosure, from the
New Zealand Government Agent in London,
respecting the Β£2000 voted by the General Assembly
to the "Orpheus" Relief Fund, is published for
general information.

SIR,-I have the honor to state that in accordance
with instructions conveyed in your communication,
No. 29, of the 6th January last, I have paid, by
direction of the Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty, to the Secretary of the "Orpheus Relief
Fund," the sum of Two Thousand Pounds, being the
sum contributed by the General Assembly of New
Zealand for the relief of the families of those who
perished in the wreck of H.M.S. "Orpheus."
I beg also to enclose copies of letters received from
the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and the
Secretary of the "Orpheus Relief Fund," relative
thereto.

SIR,-I am commanded by my Lords Commis-
sioners of the Admiralty to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 24th instant, informing me that
a sum of Two Thousand Pounds has been contributed
to the "Orpheus Relief Fund," for the benefit of the
families of those who perished in the wreck of Her
Majesty's ship "Orpheus," by the General Assembly
of New Zealand ; and I am to request that you will
express to the General Assembly their Lordships'
grateful thanks for this kind and generous contribu-
tion to the fund, and my Lords will feel obliged by
your causing the amount to be paid to the Secretary
of the "Orpheus Subscription Committee," Royal
Naval College, Portsmouth.

SIR,-I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 4th instant, enclosing a cheque
for Two Thousand Pounds, being the amount voted
by the General Assembly of New Zealand for the
benefit of the families of those who perished in the
wreck of Her Majesty's ship "Orpheus."
I am desired by the "Orpheus Relief Committee"
to beg you will be pleased to convey to the General
Assembly of New Zealand their heartfelt acknow-
ledgments for the munificent sum thus granted.
I herewith enclose you a Receipt, in duplicate, as
requested.

Notice to Mariners.

THE following Notice to Mariners respecting
alteration in Jetty Lights, Geelong, is repub-
lished for general information.

Alteration in Jetty Lights, Geelong.
On and after the evening of the 15th day of
August, the two lights now exhibited on the old
steamboat jetty will be discontinued, and four new
gas lamps be lit on the Moorabool-street Wharf, the
outer lamp of which will be colored red towards the
bay.

of such quantities of Steel Pens as may be required
by the General Government for the six months com-
mencing the 1st September, 1864.
Tenders to state the price per gross for Gillott's
and Mitchell's barrel and nib pens.
