which Bill was reserved for the signification

lency has been pleased to assent to the same.

Appointment of Registrar of Births, Deaths, and
Marriages, for the District of Ashburton.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint
WILLIAM SPENCE PETER
to be Registrar of Marriages, and Registrar
of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, for the
District of Ashburton, as described in a
Proclamation of sixth day of July, 1859, and
published in New Zealand Gazette of same
date, vice Edward Chapman resigned.
This appointment to take effect from 15th
August, 1864.

arrangements under which provision is
made at the public expense for the passages
of Taranaki refugees from the Province of
Nelson and from other Provinces of New
Zealand to New Plymouth will terminate on
the 1st of October next, and that after that
date no claim for the cost of such passage
will be entertained by the Government.

information of the Lieut.-General Command-
ing, that since the engagement at Te Ranga,
on the 21st ultimo, I have constantly
patrolled both on this and the Wairoa side
without seeing any signs of hostile natives in
either direction.
