THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Ocean; on the East and South by Port
Chalmers District and by the Ocean; and
on the West by Kaikorai and Abbott's
Creeks, thence by the Watershed of the
Kaikorai, Flagstaff, and Swampy Hill Ranges
to the scource of the Waihemo Creek.

And I do declare that this Proclamation
shall come into operation and take effect on
the first day of July next ensuing.

Given under my hand at the Govern-
ment House, at Auckland, and
issued under the Seal of the
Colony of New Zealand, this
sixth day of June, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty four.

A PROCLAMATION.

For the Naturalization of certain Persons.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY,
Knight, Commander of the Most
Honourable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand, and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by "The Naturalization
Act, 1863," it is enacted that every
person who shall be declared to come within
the operation of that Act, by any proclama-
tion to be issued in that behalf by His
Excellency the Governor, shall, as from the
time in such proclamation specified, be
deemed and taken until the termination of
the next Session of the General Assembly,
to be, and to have been, from such specified
time, a natural-born subject of Her Majesty,
within the Colony of New Zealand, as fully,
to all intents and purposes, as if his name
had been inserted in the schedule to that
Act annexed. Provided always that every
such proclamation shall contain the descrip-
tion, occupation, or calling of every person
therein named, and his place of residence at
the date of such proclamation.

Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the power and
authority in me vested by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the per-
sons hereinafter mentioned shall come
within the operation of the said Act from
the dates hereinafter specified, viz.:-

JOHN LOFHAGIN,
from the First day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-four, native of
Hanover, farmer; residence, Mount Grey
Down, near Rangiora, Province of Canter-
bury.

JOHN EVANS BROWN,
from the First day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-four, native of the
United States of America, squatter; residence,

Merivale, near Christchurch, in the Province
of Canterbury.

IGNATIUS LUIS,
from the First day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty, native of Portugal,
Horse-breaker; residence, Woodend, near
Kaiapoi, Province of Canterbury.

WILLIAM THOMPSON,
from the Twenty-first day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, native
of Norway, mariner; residence, Wellington,
Province of Wellington.

JEAN FOREST,
from the First day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-four, native of
France, Catholic Priest; residence, Napier,
Province of Hawke's Bay.

JEAN ANTOINE JOSEPH LEON,
from the First day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-four, native of
France, Catholic Priest; residence, Hutt,
Province of Wellington.

DIEDRICH DOHRMANN,
from the Sixth day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-two, native of
Germany, farmer, residence, Oxford, in the
Province of Canterbury.

GOVERNOR'S ORDER No. 51.
Appointing Havelock a Warehousing Port.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY,
Knight, Commander of the Most
Honourable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c., &c., &c.

IN exercise of the power in me for this pur-
pose vested by the "Customs Regulation
Act, 1858," I, Sir George Grey, the Gover-
nor of the Colony of New Zealand, do here-
by appoint that the Port of Havelock shall
be a Warehousing Port for the purposes of
the "Customs Regulation Act, 1858;" and
do hereby approve of the same as a Port for
the importation of tobacco.

Given under my hand at Government
House, at Auckland, this fourth
day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-four.
