December 30.-Sick and wounded going
on well; all quiet and orderly. Four
of the prisoners are told off as cooks
and seven as stewards, to each company,
daily; others wash the deck.
December 31.-Sick and wounded going on
well; no complaints. General conduct
good. One blanket has been served out
to each prisoner, for night use only.
Hospital: 1 wounded, 1 sore eyes, 2
diarrhœa, 40 itch.
- January 1.-Prisoners are satisfied with the
arrangements made for them on board
the hulk "Marion;" all quiet and orderly.
Sick and wounded doing well. Hospital:
1 wounded, 1 sore eyes, 2 diarrhœa, 40
itch.
January 2.-Sick and wounded going on
favourably; habits of cleanliness strictly
adhered to. All quiet and orderly; no
complaints. Hospital report same as
yesterday.
January 3.-Similar report.
January 4.-Sick and wounded going on
well. No complaints. Hospital: 1
wounded, 1 sore eyes, 1 gathering on
knee, 2 diarrhœa, 30 itch.
January 5.-General conduct of prisoners
good. Hospital: 1 wounded, 1 gather-
ing on knee, 2 diarrhea, 4 sore throats,
30 itch.
January 7.-Sick and wounded progressing
favourably. No complaints. General
conduct good. Hospital: 1 wounded,
1 gathering on knee, 1 diarrhœa, 4 sore
throats, 25 itch.
January 7.-Similar report, with the excep-
tion of one sore throat cured.
January 8.-Sick and wounded going on
well; all the cases of itch cured. No
complaints. Conduct quiet and orderly.
Hospital: 1 wounded, 2 sore eyes, 2
gatherings on knee, 1 diarrhœa, 1 worms.
January 9.-Similar report.
January 10.-Similar report.
January 11.-Sick and wounded as before.
Te Wirihana Huiputea brought in from
the Queen's Redoubt, Pokeno, and
placed on board the hulk "Marion."
All quiet and orderly. Hospital: 1
wounded, 2 sore eyes, 2 gathering on
knee, 2 diarrhœa, 1 worms.
January 12.-Sick and wounded going on
well. No complaints. Hospital: 1
wounded, 2 sore eyes, 2 debility, 1 sore
throat, 1 dysentery, 1 scrofula, 1 boil.
Divine Service has been conducted in Maori
every Sunday by clergymen of the Church
of England and Wesleyan Church, and occa-
sional visits have been paid by the same
clergymen during the week.
