of Officers of the Customs. And I further call
attention to clause 35 of the above recited
Act, which declares that if any Ships coming
into the Colony shall not come up as quickly
to the proper place of mooring or unlading as
the nature of the port will admit without
touching at any other place, and in proceeding
to such proper place shall not bring to at the
Stations appointed by the Commissioner for
the boarding of Ships by Officers of the
Customs, or if the Master of any Ship on board
of which any Officer is stationed, neglect or
refuse to provide every such Officer sufficient
room under the deck in some part of the cabin,
or steerage, or passenger deck, for his bed or
hammock, the Master of such Vessel shall
forfeit the sum of twenty pounds.

THE following Notice, respecting the exten-
sion of the time for sending in Tenders

ALFRED DOMETT.

Department of Public Works,
Sydney, 9th December, 1862,

LEASING GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS.

Referring to the Notice from this Depart-
ment, dated the 9th May last, inviting Tenders
for leasing the Government Railways, from
the 1st January next; Notice is now hereby
given, that as the extensions at present in
progress cannot be opened for traffic within
the anticipated time, the Government will not
be prepared to hand over the Railways before
the 1st July next, and the time for receiving
Tenders is consequently extended until the 1st
May, 1863.

Those parties who have, in pursuance of the
Notice dated the 9th May last, already sub-
mitted Tenders, are informed that the same
will remain in this Office, unopened, until the
extended time for the receipt of Tenders
expires, up to which date they will be at
liberty to send in amended Tenders or to with-
draw those sent in.

Further particulars may be obtained at the
Office of Public Works, Phillip Street, Syd-
ney.

Session 11, of the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and
decide Claims to Land by persons claiming title thereto, from, through or under the New Zealand
Company, report that the Claims of the undermentioned persons having been duly referred to
me for investigation, I do hereby decide that the said persons are respectively entitled to Crown
Grants of the land set against their names in the annexed Schedule.
