Regulations 74 and 75 are respectively al-
tered by omitting the words "original entry"
and inserting in lieu thereof the word "Re-
gister."

Regulation 77. is altered by omitting the
words "whether he left his estate free from or
subject to debts" and the words "and in case
he died leaving his estate subject to debts, then
who are his creditors."

Regulation 97 is altered by inserting after
the words "annexed thereto" the words "or
without a reference to the Register of Pro-
prietorship."

Regulation 103 is added to by inserting at
the end thereof the words "and the land
affected thereby shall be accurately defined."

Regulation 116 is altered by inserting at the
beginning before the word "Inhibitions" the
words "Charges, Notices of Lease, and" and
by omitting the words "across the same" and
inserting in lieu thereof the words " across the
respective Instruments" and by omitting the
words at the end "affected by the Inhibition
and in the Indices."

Regulation 118 is added to by inserting
after the words "for every examination of
Title to Land" the words "in ordinary cases
not exceeding 21s., in special cases not ex-
ceeding Five Guineas."

Regulation 120 is altered by omitting the
words "or charge."

Approved in Council this fifteenth day of
September, 1863.

Bay, under the "Waste Lands Act,
1858."

in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.,
&c.

WHEREAS by the "Waste Lands Act,
1858," the Governor is empowered
from time to time to delegate to the Superin-
tendent of any Province, or to such other
person as he may think fit all or any of the
powers vested in him by sections Three, Four,
and Five, and also by section Fourteen of the
said Act, subject or not to any limitations or
restrictions as the Governor may think fit.

Now, therefore, I, Sir GEORGE GREY, the
Governor of New Zealand in pursuance of
the said power and authority do hereby de-
legate to

DONALD MCLEAN, Esquire,

so long as he shall hold the office of Superin-
tendent of the Province of Hawke's Bay in
the said Colony, all such powers as are vested
in me by section Five of the said Act, to
exercise within the limits of the said Province
without any limitation or restriction.

Head Quarters, Queen's Redoubt,
18th September, 1863.

SIR, I have the honor to forward for
your Excellency's information, the enclosed
reports from Major Lyon, commanding the
Galloway redoubt.

Your Excellency will feel equal pleasure
with myself in learning that the Militia and
Volunteers, as well as the small detachment
of the 18th Royal Irish, under the command
of Major Lyon, behaved with so much
steadiness and gallantry.

Galloway Redoubt, Wairoa,
15th September, 1863.

SIR,-I have the honor to report for the
information of the Major-General Command-
ing Colonial Forces, that about 10 o'clock
this morning Maoris opened fire at the stock-
ade from the bush in rear of Mr. Nicholl's
house, having first shot at a son of his, 9
years of age, the bullet passed through his
cap without injuring him.

Fire was returned from the stockade and
from our redoubt.

I advanced with 25 men to the assistance
of the settlers on two different occasions, viz.,
at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., after which all was
quiet.

The men of the 18th Royal Irish, Militia
Volunteers, Auckland Rifle Volunteers, and
Wairoa Rifles behaved most steadily.

It was impossible to ascertain the number
of Maories in the vicinity, as they did not
come into the open.

Ensign Johnson, Wairoa Rifles, was slightly
wounded in the arm.

During my absence I left Captain Clark,
A.R.V., in command of the redoubt, an officer
