Notice to Coroners and Justices of the
Peace holding Inquests.

Registrar General's Office,
Auckland, 8th September, 1863.

THE attention of Coroners and Justices of
the Peace is requested to the following
Extracts from "The Registration Act,
1858":-

SECTION XIII.

"In case any new-born child or any dead
body shall be found exposed, a Constable of the
District shall forthwith inform the Registrar
thereof, and of the place where such child or
dead body was found; and where an inquest
shall be held on any dead body, the Coroner or
Justice of the Peace holding the same shall
notify to the Registrar of the District the
Verdict of the Jury, with all other particulars
required to be registered concerning the Death,
and such Registrar shall make the entry in his
Register Book accordingly, and the same shall
be signed by the Coroner or Justice of the
Peace, by whom the information has been
given."

SECTION XX.

Every Registrar, immediately upon regi-
stering any death, or as soon thereafter as he
shall be required so to do, shall without fee or
reward deliver to the person giving informa-
tion, or to the undertaker or other person hav-
ing charge of the funeral, a certificate under
his hand according to the form in Schedule C,
hereto annexed, that such death has been
duly registered; and such Certificate shall be
delivered by such undertaker or other person
to the minister or officiating person who shall
be required to bury or perform any funeral or
religious service for the burial; and if any
dead body shall be buried, for which no certifi-
cate shall have been so delivered, the person
who shall bury the same, or perform any fune-
ral or religious service for the burial, or who
shall in any other way dispose of the body,
shall forthwith give notice of the facts to the
Registrar: Provided always, that the Coroner
or Justice of the Peace holding any inquest
upon any dead body for which no Certificate
shall have been delivered as aforesaid, may
order the body to be buried, if he shall think
fit, before registration; and shall in such case
give a certificate of his order in writing under
his hand in the form in Schedule D, hereto
annexed, to the undertaker or other person
having charge of the funeral.

The following is the form of the Certificate
(Schedule D.) referred to in the foregoing
Extract:-

order the burial of the body now shown to the
Inquest Jury as the body of

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act
of the General Assembly of New Zea-
land, passed in the eighteenth year of the
reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria and
intituled "The Marriage Act 1854," the
following name of an Officiating Minister,
within the meaning of the said Act, is publish-
ed for general information:

Hebrew Congregations.

I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar General of
Births, Deaths and Marriages in New Zea-
land, do hereby cereify that the foregoing
name of an Officiating Minister, within the
meaning of "The Marriage Act 1854," has
been sent in to me in addition to the names
in lists published in the New Zealand Gazette,
No. 2, of the 23rd of January, No. 5, of the
14th of February, No. 12, of the 25th of
March, No. 14, of the 21st of April, No. 28,
of the 11th of July, No. 31, of the 22nd of
July, No. 36, of the 6th of August, No. 40,
of the 12th of August, and No. 44, of the 3rd
of September in the present year.

Given under my hand, at Auckland,
this eighth day of September, 1863.

BLUFF HARBOUR AND INVERCAR-
GILL RAILWAY AND EXTENSION.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that
application will be made at the ensuing
session of the General Assembly of the
Colony, for leave to bring in a bill to em-
power the Superintendent of the Province of
Southland to take and purchase compulsorily,
for the purpose of the Bluff and Invercargill
Railway, authorised to be constructed under
and by virtue of the Bluff Harbour and In-
vercargill Railway Ordinance, 1863, of the
Provincial Council of the said Province of
Southland, certain lands lying and being
within the line of the said railway, and the
limits of deviation thereof; and also to autho-
rise the said Superintendent to make and
maintain extensions of the said railway as
follows, that is to say-

  1. An extension, leaving the present line
    of railway at a distance of four chains north-
    west from its intersection with the eastern
    boundary of Section 17, Block 7, Campbell-
    town District, and skirting the line of beach
    with a radius of forty chains, will be carried
    along it, parallel to and in close proximity
    with the line shown on the Campbelltown
    plan, as the exterior boundary of Nore-street,
    to a point opposite the north-west corner of
    Block No. 5, Campbelltown, from which
    point it will be continued with a radius of
    forty chains to a point opposite the north-
    east corner of Block No. 4, from which point
    it will be continued along the beach, parallel
    to and in close proximity with the line shown
