A PROCLAMATION
Declaring certain articles contraband of
War.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE
GREY, Knight Commamder of
the most Honourable Order of
the Bath, Governor and Com-
ander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zea-
land, and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c.,
&c., &c.

WHEREAS by the "Arms Act, 1860," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor by Proclamation published in the
New Zealand Gazette from time to time to
declare what articles shall be considered as
warlike stores for the purposes of the said Act
and also for the purposes of an Ordinance of
the Lieutenant Governor and Legislative
Council of New Zealand passed in the sixth
session of the said Council intituled "An Or-
dinance to empower the Governor of New
Zealand to regulate the Importation and sale
of Arms, Gunpowder and other Warlike stores."
New therefore I Sir George Grey the Go-
vernor of the said Colony in pursuance and ex-
ercise of the said power and authority do here-
by proclaim and declare that the undermen-
tioned articles shall (amongst others) be con-
sidered as Warlike stores for the purposes
above-mentioned that is to say:-

Firearms of every description,
Accoutrements for such arms,
Gunpowder of every description in cartridge
or otherwise,
Percussion caps, Flints,

HEREAS by an Act passed in the
Session of Parliament held in the fif-
teenth and sixteenth years of Her Majesty's

Lead, Zinc and Copper, manufactured or
otherwise,
Shot, Ball, Bullets, Marbles,
Saltpetre,
Bayonets, Pikes, Hay-forks, Scythes, Swords,
Tomahawks, Adzes, and all other edged
tools of whatever description soever capa-
ble of being used as weapons,
Iron of all kinds capable of being converted
into weapons.

Given under my hand at the Government
House at Auckland and issued
under the seal of the Colony of
New Zealand this twenty ninth
day of July, in the year of our
Lord One thousand eight hun-
dred and sixty-three.
