NEW PLYMOUTH, MONDAY, MARCH 30, 1863.

A PROCLAMATION

Bringing into operation the “ Colonial Defence Force Act, 1862.”

By His Excellency SIR GEORGE GREY, Knight
Commander of the Most Honourable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of
New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand,
intituled "An Act for raising a Force for the internal Defence of
the Colony," it is enacted that the said Act shall come into force on
and after a day to be fixed by the Governor by Proclamation in the
Government Gazette.

Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the provisions of the said in part recited Act, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the aforesaid "Act for raising a Force for the internal De-
fence of the Colony," shall come into force on and after the thirty-first
day of March instant.

Given under my hand at New Plymouth, this
thirtieth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-three.
