A PROCLAMATION
Appointing a Circuit Court to be held at
Taranaki.
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE
GREY, Knight, Commander of
the Most Honorable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled
"The Supreme Court Act, 1860," it is
provided that "there shall be held Circuit
"Courts for the despatch of Civil and
"Criminal business of the Court before one
" of the Judges thereof, at such places and
" times as the Governor in Council may from
"time to time appoint,"
Now, therefore, I, the Governor, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
appoint that a Circuit Court shall be held at
New Plymouth, in the Province of Taranaki,
in the Northern District of the said Colony,
upon the thirteenth day of January, in the
year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-two, or so soon after such day as
conveniently may be.
Given under my hand at the Govern-
ment House, at Auckland, and is-
sued under the Seal of the Colony
of New Zealand, this seventh day
of December, in the year of our
Lord, One thousand eight-hundred
and sixty-one.

A PROCLAMATION
To provide for the Protection of certain
Birds lately introduced into the Colony.
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE
GREY, Knight, Commander of
the Most Honorable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by the 9th section of the
"Protection of certain Animals Act,
1861," it is provided that the Governor of
New Zealand may, by Proclamation, declare
that any Animals or Birds other than those
specified in the said Act shall be protected and
come under the operation of such of the pro-
visions of the said Act as may be specified in
such Proclamation :
And whereas it is expedient that certain
Birds recently imported into this Colony, and
the increase arising therefrom, should be pro-
tected for a certain period :
Now, therefore, I, George Grey, in virtue of
the provision before recited, do hereby proclaim
and declare that all Birds of the species here-
inafter named respectively, that is to say, the
Bird known as the "Indian Goose," and the
Bird known as the "Diver," shall henceforth
be protected and come under the operation of
the Second, Sixth, Seventh, Eight, Eleventh,
Twelfth, and Thirteenth Sections of the said Act.
Given under my hand at the Govern-
ment House at Auckland, and issued
under the Seal of the Colony of New
Zealand, this seventh day of Decem-
ber, in the year of our Lord, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
