Farewell Undress LevΓ©e at Govern-
ment House, on Wednesday next,
the 2nd October, at two o'clock,
p.m.

IT is hereby notified that His Ex-
cellency Sir George Grey, K.C.B.,
will publicly take the Oaths, as
Officer administering the Govern-
ment of New Zealand, in the
grounds of Government House, on
THURSDAY next, the 3rd instant,
at three o'clock p.m.

All Naval, Military, and Civil
Officers, Members of the Legis-
lature, Clergymen of different de-
nominations, Justices of the Peace,
and such of the Colonists as can
conveniently attend, are invited to
be present on the occasion.

being the day of the intended
departure, from the Colony, of His
Excellency the Governor, the Pub-
lic Offices will be closed on that
day.

A PROCLAMATION
By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of the
Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief
in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its De-
pendencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled
"The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," it is
enacted that the said Act shall come into
operation on such day as shall be fixed by
the Governor whereof Proclamation shall be
made and published in the Government Ga-
zette.

Now, therefore, I, Thomas Gore Browne,
hereby proclaim and fix the day of the
date hereof to be the day on which the said
Act shall come into operation.

Given under my hand at the Govern-
ment House, at Auckland, and
issued under the Seal of the
Colony of New Zealand, this
thirtieth day of September, in
the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and
sixty-one.

Regulations respecting delegation of powers
to Superintendents under " Diseased
Cattle Act, 1861."

AT THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE AT AUCKLAND,
THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER, 1861.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Warrants under the
hand of His Excellency the Governor,
bearing date the first day of October,
One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one,
the Governor has, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand,
delegated to the Superintendents respectively
of the Provinces of Auckland, Taranaki, Wel-
lington, Hawke's Bay, Nelson, Marlborough,
Canterbury, Otago, and Southland certain
powers conferred on him by the "Diseased Cat-
tle Act, 1861," subject to certain Regulations
to be made by the Governor in Council, under
the recited Act; Now, THEREFORE, His
Excellency the Governor, with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council, of
