THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette,
and from and after the day of such publication
the said several Rolls shall be the Electoral Rolls
to be used respectively for the said Districts
for the election of Members of the said Pro-
vincial Council, until new Electoral Rolls shall
be made for the same under the provisions of
the law for the time being in force for the
Registration of Electors.

SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

MATAURA DISTRICT

Comprises that portion of the Province
situate to the North and East of a line com-
mencing on the Sea Coast at the South
Eastern boundary of the Campbelltown
Hundred, thence proceeding along the
Eastern boundary line of that Hundred to
its termination, and thence produced till it
strikes the Northern boundary line of the
Land Sales and Leases Ordinance Block;
thence running Westerly along the last named
boundary line to its termination, and thence
produced till it strikes the Waiau River.

CAMPBELLTOWN DISTRICT

Comprises that portion of the Province now
included within the limits of the Campbelltown
Hundred.

WAIHOPAI DISTRICT

Comprises that portion of the Province
bounded on the North by a line running East
from the mouth of the Waimatuku Creek to
the junction of the Oreti and Makarewa
Rivers, thence by the Makarewa and Hedge-
hope Rivers to the boundary of the Mataura
district; on the East by the Mataura district;
on the West by the Sea; and on the South by
the New River Estuary and the Campbelltown
district:-Excepting the Town of Invercargill.

INVERCARGILL DISTRICT

Comprises the Town of Invercargill as in-
cluded within the limits of the Town Reserve
of that name.

RIVERTON DISTRICT

Comprises the Town of Riverton as included
within the limits of the Town Reserve of that
name.

NEW RIVER DISTRICT

Comprises that portion of the Province
bcunded towards the North and East by the
Mataura District ; towards the South East

and South by the Waihopai District and the
Sea; and towards the West by the Waiau
River and the Sea: -Excepting the Town of
Riverton.

Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL
COME, GREETING:

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, intituled
"The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
by Warrant under his hand, from time to time,
to appoint Polling Places for each Electoral
District within or without the limits thereof,
and to appoint any one of such places to be
the Principal Polling Place for the District,
and all or any of such Polling Places at any
time to abolish, and to appoint other Polling
Places in lieu thereof. And whereas by another
Act of the General Assembly, intituled, "The
Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted
that, subject to certain provisions therein con-
tained, every Election of a Member of the
Provincial Council of a Province shall be con-
ducted in the manner prescribed by "The Re-
gulation of Elections Act, 1858," aforesaid, and
all the provisions of the said last mentioned
Act shall apply to the Elections of Members of
Provincial Council;

Now know Ye, that I, Thomas Gore
Browne, the Governor of the Colony, in pur-
suance of the power and authority in me vested
by the said Acts, do hereby appoint the fol-
lowing places to be Polling Places for the res-
pective Districts hereinafter specified in the
Province of Southland, for the Election of
Members of the Provincial Council of the said
Province, namely,-

  1. Mataura, -The home station of Mr. R.
    Stuart, Run No. 91. -The house of Mr. Gunn,
    Run 119. -The home station of Mr. Freeman
    Jackson, Run 143.
  2. Campbelltown, -The Custom House,
    Campbelltown.
  3. Waihopai, -The house of Mr. Coup-
    land, Puni Bush, Invercargill Hundreds.
  4. Invercargill, -The School House, In-
    vercargill.
  5. Riverton, -The store of Messrs. Surman
    & Crerar, Riverton.
  6. New River, -The house of Mr. R.
    Grieve, Brampholme Bush, New River Hun-
    dred. -The house of Mr. Young, Gummy's
    Bush, Jacob's River Hundred.

And I do further appoint the Polling Places
severally hereinafter specified to be the prin-
cipal Places for their respective Districts,
namely,-

Mataura, -The home station of Mr. R.
Stuart, Run No. 91.
