have taken a lenient view in many cases, as
with persons who volunteer their services, I do
not think that extreme strictness should be
enforced in all cases without distinction.
The firing by Members has greatly im-
proved, particularly of late, in consequence of
the encouragement held out by the Govern-
ment and other prizes.
The Corps has been inspected during this
year by Colonel Sir James Alexander and by
Colonel Warre, and both those officers were
pleased to signify their approval of its appear-
ance and field movements.

report from the Officer Commanding the
Auckland Rifle Volunteers; you are requested
to inform that Officer that this Report will be
published in an early Gazette,

vey to Lieut-Colonel Balneavis, the Officers,
Non-Commissioned Officers, and Men of the
Auckland Rifle Volunteers, His Excellency's
warm thanks for their valuable services, and
his congratulations on their efficiency and good
couduct.

Ireland, resigned.
This appointment to take effect on and

No. 15, Session 11, of the Legislative Council
of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and
decide Claims to Land by persons claiming
Title thereto from, through, or under the New
Zealand Company, Report that the claims of

duly referred to me for investigation, do
hereby decide that the said persons are res-

THE Commissioner of Crown Lands for
the Province of Marlborough having, by
a Notice published in the Government Gazette
of that Province, declared the forfeiture from
the 7th day of January 1861, of the Pasture
Occupation License granted the 1st day of
January 1856 to John Tinline, for the Run
known as the Ferryhurst Run, situate in the
district of Amuri, and included between the
River Conway and the Streams Hundalee and
Blackburn.--and which License was trans-
ferred to Robert Tinline on the 28th day of
February, 1859;-
It is hereby notified that His Excellency
the Governor, in pursuance of the powers
vested in him by the 18th Section of the
Crown Lands Ordinance, Sess. X, No. 1; has
been pleased to revoke such forfeiture, and to
declare that such revocation shall take effect
from the said 7th day of January, 1861.
