of Statistics for the year 1858, is on
Sale at this office, at 5 shillings for each
copy.

General Post Office,
Auckland, February 8th, 1860.
CONSIDERABLE inconvenience and
delay having been experienced from the
want of any rule to guide the mode in which
applications are to be made for the establish-
ment of new Post Offices, it is hereby notified
that no such application will in future be
entertained, unless made in the following
manner.
Persons intending to apply for the estab-
lishment of any new Post Office must, in the
first instance, signify their request to the
Chief Postmaster of the district in which the
new Post Office is required, who will enter
the necessary particulars in a form provided
for that purpose, and will then deliver the
same to the applicants for signature.
The applicants, after signing the form so
filled up, will then return it to the Post-
master, for transmission to the Postmaster-
General.

IN conformity with the 7th clause of the
"Gold Fields Act, 1858," it is hereby
notified that it is intended to grant Leases for
Gold Mining purposes on the Crown Lands
specified in the following applications:—

Applicant—William James Hynes.
Locality—Brandy Point, Slate River.
Area—One acre.
In a rectilinear block; bounded by a line
commencing at the South Eastern angle at a
marked stump on the edge of the high bank
of the Slate River, thence N. 260 links, thence
N. 23° W. 150 links to a marked stump;
thence S. 78° 30' W, 250 links to a marked
Rimu tree; thence S. 11° 30' E., 400 links
to a marked stump; thence N. 78° 30' E.,
230 links to the point of commencement.

on the spur at the side of Miller's creek;
thence due West 15.87 links, to a peg on the
edge of a spur near Maori gulley; thence S.
70° 30' W. 22.32 links, thence at a right

thence due East 15.87 links; thence S. 78°
E. 29.31 links; thence S. 8° 30' E. 7.00
