from. the South Australian Government
Gazette for general information.

TRINITY HOUSE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
NOTICE TO MARINERS FREQUENTING ST.
VINCENT'S GULF.

On and after December 1st, 1859, a Red
and White Light placed vertically (the Red
Light being uppermost) will be exhibited
nightly from the outer end of the Glenelg
Jetty, in lat. 34Β° 59' 30" S., long. 138 33'
E. from the 1st of every month until the ar-
rival of the English Mail, which ge erally
occurs on or about the 4th of the month.

The lights will also be exhibited on the
night of the 18th of each month or on such
nights as follow the dispatch of the English
Homeward Mail from Ade aide.

Mariners will take notice that the Lights
may be exhibited on other dates than those
above-mentioned.

The upper or Red Light stands 29 feet
above high water mark with the Bright Light
9 feet below it. The Red Light will be seen
about 6 miles in clear weather. The Lights
exhibit themselves in all directions included
in the arc of the sea horizon.

Vessels anchoring off the Glenelg Jetty,
should bring the Lights to bear E. by N. and
bring up in not less than (5) five fathoms.

Coasters may approach the end of the Jetty
very closely, but care should be taken to
avoid a shoal patch on an oyster bank lying
about a mile to the southward of the Town-
ship.

Ten-and-a-half feet will be found at the end
of the Jesty at Low Water Springs, the rise
and fail is Eight (8) fe t-

course of construction off the Semaphore and
Pilot Station on Le Fevre's peninsula, the Re
