through certain other lands to the Highway
leading from Onehunga to Auckland aforesaid,
at or near to a house in the occupation of Mr.
Simpson, thence along the said Highway to its
junction with a certain other Highway called
the Kyber Pass Road, and thence by two
branches-one proceeding along the first-
named Highway to Parnell, and the other
proceeding along the said Kyber Pass Road to
a certain field adjoining such road belonging
or reputed to belong to Mr. McLachlan to a
Reservoir to be formed there, and thence along
the said last-named Highway to its junction
with a certain other Highway called the
Cemetery Road, and thence down such last-
mentioned Highway to or near to the Windmill
at the junction of the said last-mentioned
Highway with a certain other Highway called
Karangahape Road, and from such place and
from Parnell aforesaid by pipes and other
works into, through, or under the highways,
streets, lanes, and places within the town and
suburbs of Auckland or part thereof respec-
tively all in the County of Eden in the pro-
vince of Auckland, with all reservoirs, cisterns
tanks, aqueducts, drains, cuts, sluices, pipes,
culverts, engines, and other works and build-
ings necessary for the making, maintaining,
completing, and using such Waterworks; and
to contract for purchase and hold messuages,
lands, tenements, and hereditaments required
for the said undertaking, and to take messuages,
lands, tenements, and hereditaments compul-
sorily, and to hold the same either permanently
or for temporary occupation; and to take and
impound, direct, and collect streams, courses,
and springs of water; and to raise money by
shares in the said undertaking; and to raise a
further sum of money by mortgage of the rates
and other property of the Company and the
future calls on the Shareholders therein; and
to open and break up streets, roads, highways,
lanes, squares, and alleys and to lay pipes
therein for the purposes of the said Waterworks
and premises; and to furnish a supply of
water for the domestic uses of the inhabitants
of the said town and suburbs, and a further
supply for the public uses thereof, and for the
extinguishing of fires therein; and to levy
rates upon the persons requiring, receiving, or
using such supply of water; and to enter into
contracts and agreements with any other per-
sons for a supply of water by the Company to
them for domestic, agricultural, or manufac-
turing purposes; and to enable the Company
to assign and transfer the said rates and other
property to the Superintendent for the time
being of the Province of Auckland as a secu-
rity for the annual sum of £3000, in case the
Legislature of such province shall pass an Act
guaranteeing to the said Company and its
Mortgagees the annual payment of such sum,

NOTICE is hereby given, that, at the next
meeting of the General Assembly for
the Colony of New Zealand, a Petition will be
presented on behalf of the Dun Mountain Cop-
per Mining Company (Limited), for leave to
introduce a special Bill to empower the said
Company to construct and maintain a Railway
for the transport of the Ores, Minerals, and
other produce, arising from the mines and lands
of the Company, and leading from the said
mines and lands through certain reserves and
other waste lands of the Crown, and through
certain private lands, and along and over cer-
tain public roads in Brook street Valley, and
from thence along and over the following streets
and roads within the City of Nelson; viz:
Brook-street, Tasman-street, Bridge-street, and
the Haven Road, to the Albion Wharf, in the
Nelson Haven; with power to the Company to
take and purchase such portions of the private
lands aforesaid as may be necessary for the pur-
poses of the said Railway.
And notice is hereby further given, that
Plans and Index-books showing the proposed
line of the said railway, and the names and
additions of the owners and occupiers of the
private lands aforesaid, will be deposited at the
following places, namely—
At the Office of the Commissioner of Public
Works for the said Province of Nelson.
At the Office of the Commissioner of Crown
Lands for the said Province.
At the Office of the Superintendent of the
said Province.
At the Office of the Board of Works for the
said City of Nelson.
With the Secretary of the Road Board for
the district of Suburban South, in the said
Province.
And at the Office of the said Company in
Collingwood-street, in the said City of Nelson.
Dated at Nelson, 12th June, 1860, for the
said Company.

NOTICE is hereby given that an applica-
tion will be made to the General Assem-
bly of New Zealand, in the next Session thereof,
for an Act to enable the Governor to grant to
Arthur Guyon Purchas and James Ninnis, a
Patent for an Invention for the preparation of
the fibre of the Phormium Tenax, and other
Plants for manufacturing purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given, that, at the next
sitting of the General Assembly for the
Colony of New Zealand, a Petition will be pre-
sented from the Right Reverend Phillip Joseph
Viard, of Wellington, in the said colony, Bishop
of Orthosia and Apostolic Administrator of the
Roman Catholic Diocese of Wellington, in the
said colony, for leave to introduce a Special
Bill to empower the said Bishop, his heirs, and
assigns, to Sell or Exchange a certain Acre of
Land, situate in the City of Nelson, in the said
colony, and numbered as "426" on the plan
of the City of Nelson aforesaid; and to provide
for the investment of the proceeds of sale in the
purchase of other land, or in exchange for other
land in the said City of Nelson, to be held by
Trustees in trust as for an endowment for the
maintenance and support of the Roman Ca-
tholic mission and religion in the City of Nelson
aforesaid.
