THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
hereinafter mentioned or referred to, that is to
say:-From and after the date hereof, Arms,
Ammunition, Gunpowder, or other warlike
stores shall and may be exported only under
license, in writing, first obtained for that pur-
pose under the hand of the Commissioner of
Trade and Customs, for the time being, and
only at the place, in the manner, and subject
to the conditions (if any) specified in such
license: Provided always that nothing in this
proclamation shall be construed to apply to the
exportation of supplies for the use of Her Ma-
jesty's land and sea forces.
Given under my Hand and the Seal
of the Colony, at Melbourne,
this seventeenth day of April,
in the year of Our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and
sixty, and in the twenty-third
year of Her Majesty's Reign.

THE following Notice respecting a Leading
Light at Warrnambool, Victoria, is pub-
lished for general information.

LEADING LIGHT AT WARRNAMBOOL.
WITH reference to a Notice to Mariners
issued from this Office, dated the 28th
May, 1859, respecting the second light at
Warrnambool : -
Notice is hereby given that on and after the
25th instant, between sunset and sunrise, a
fixed red light will be exhibited from a tower
situated on the beach, just above high water
mark, in a line with the two white obelisks,
and bearing from the Middle Island Lighthouse
N. 37° 30′ E.
The Leading Light will, in ordinary wea-
ther, be seen three miles to seaward; it is
masked in the direction of the outer reefs, and
visible from S. 1. 30′ E. to S. 20° 30′ E.,
thus only illuminating an arc of nineteen de-
grees. Bearings magnetic.

NOTICE.
THE undermentioned Warehouse has been
duly appointed and approved in accord-
ance with the 11th Section of the "Customs
Regulation Act, 1858," for the reception of
Goods under Bond.
A Warehouse belonging to Messrs. Levien
& Co., on their Premises, on the south
side of Bridge-street, Nelson.

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to
be notified that all Arms, Gunpowder,
and other Warlike Stores, imported into the
Colony without previous license, are liable to
seizure as forfeited to the Crown, and, after the
date of this Notice, will be seized accordingly.
Provided that, if in any case it shall be
shewn, to the satisfaction of the Governor, that
the shipment of such stores was ordered pre-
viously to the publication of this Notice, and
that there was no opportunity of countermand-
ing such shipment, License may be granted to
export the same.
Persons desirous of importing Arms, Gun-
powder, and other Warlike Stores, must, in
future, make application for License to import
such stores previously to ordering the shipment
thereof to the Colony.
This notice is not to apply to Arms and Am-
munition imported in reasonable quantities for
the personal use of the Importer, as to which it
will be sufficient to apply for a License after
the arrival of the importing ship.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Sitting of
the Supreme Court, for the despatch of
Criminal Business, will be holden at the Court
House, Queen-street, Auckland, on Friday, the
first day of June next, at ten o'clock in the fore-
noon; and that a Sitting for the despatch of
Civil Business will be holden at the Court
House, on Thursday, the seventh day of
June next, at ten o'clock in the forenoon,
at which times and place all persons under
recognizance to appear as prosecutors, defend-
ants, or witnesses, are required to give their
attendance.
