the name of
"THE DISTRICT COURT OF HAWKE'S BAY."

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of
the Most Honorable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand, and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by the "District Courts Act,
1858," it is enacted that there
shall be, within the Colony of New
Zealand, Courts of Record possessing Civil
and Criminal Jurisdiction, to be called
District Courts, and the Governor is
empowered from time to time, as he
shall think fit, by Proclamation in the New
Zealand Gazette, to constitute throughout the
Colony, or in any part thereof, Districts within
which such Court shall be respectively held,
and such Districts to abolish, and the bounda-
ries thereof to define or alter, and also to
declare by what local name each such Court
shall be designated.

Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pursu-
ance and execution of the aforesaid authority,
do hereby proclaim and constitute so much
and such part of the Province of Wellington
as lies to the southward of a line commencing
at the mouth of the river Manawatu and fol-
lowing such river to its junction with the
boundary of the Province of Hawke's Bay,
and thence along the southern boundary of such
Province to the sea, to be a District within
which a District Court shall be held under the
said Act.

And in further pursuance and exercise of
the authority aforesaid, I do hereby declare
that the aforesaid Court shall be designated by
the name of
"THE DISTRICT COURT OF WELLINGTON."

AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE, AT AUCKLAND,
THE TWENTY-EIGHTH DAY OF JUNE, 1859.
Present:-
His Excellency the Governor,
Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Tancred,
Mr. Richmond,
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, inti-
tuled "The Militia Act, 1858," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council
from time to time to constitute throughout the
Colony or any part thereof, Militia Districts,
and such Districts from time to time to vary,
and to designate the Militia of any such
District by the name of a Regiment, Battalion,
Corps, or Company,
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Gover-
nor by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council, in exercise of the above
recited power, doth by this present order, con-
stitute a Militia District to be called and
known by the name of
CHRISTCHURCH,
and doth define the boundaries of the said
District as follows, that is to say:
The circumference of a circle, the radius of
which extends fifteen miles from the present
Land Office in the town of Christchurch.
And doth designate the Militia within the
said District by the name of a Battalion.

THE TWENTY-EIGHTH DAY OF JUNE, 1859.

Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Tancred,
Mr. Richmond.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General As-
sembly of New Zealand, inti-
tuled "The Militia Act, 1858," it
enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council from time to time to
make, vary, and abolish Regulations under
which the services of Volunteers shall be
accepted in any Militia District: Now, there-
fore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council
oft he Colony, and in exercise of the powers in
this behalf vested in him by the said recited Act,
doth hereby make and ordain the following Re-
gulations under which the services of Volunteers
shall be accepted in the District of Christchurch.
