PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of the
Most Honorable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly, entitled "The Registration
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, from time to time, by
proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to
divide the Colony, for the purposes of the said
Act, into such and so many Districts as he
shall think fit, and every such District shall be
called by a distinct name, and shall be a
Registrar's District: Provided always, that the
Governor may, at any time, revoke the whole
or any part of any such Proclamation, and
issue a new Proclamation, dividing the Colony
or any portion of it, anew into Districts, or
increasing the number, or altering the bounda-
ries of Districts, as from time to time he may
think requisite; and it is provided that the
Districts existing at the time of the passing of
the said Act should, until duly altered, be
deemed to be Districts proclaimed under the
said Act.
Now, therefore, I, the Governor of the said
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the
said in part recited Act, do hereby revoke
every Proclamation at any time heretofore
issued, appointing and declaring Registrar's
Districts for the purposes of the Registration
of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. And I do
by this Proclamation divide the said Colony,
for the purposes of the said Act, into Districts,
the names and boundaries whereof shall be as
follows.
MONGONUI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North, East, and West by
the sea; on the South by a line drawn through
the centre of the harbour of Wangape, to the
mid channel of river Motukakahai to its source,
thence by a straight line to the summit of the
mountain Maungataniwha, and thence by a
straight line to the south extremity of the
southernmost of the Cavallo Islands, including
the group of islands known as the "Three
Kings," and all the islands on the east coast as
far south as the southernmost of the Cavallo
Islands.
BAY OF ISLANDS DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line drawn from
the summit of Maungataniwha to the south
extremity of the southernmost of the Cavallo
Islands. On the East by the sea. On the
South-west by a line drawn from the summit
of Maungataniwha to the south-western
extremity of Omapere lake; thence to
Ruapekapeka; thence to the source of the
Ngungaru river; thence down the mid channel
of the Ngungaru to the sea, including all the
islands situated on the coast, between the south
extremity of the southernmost of the Cavallo
group and the north of the Ngungaru river.
HOKIANGA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line drawn
through the centre of the harbour Wangape to
the mid channel of the river Motukakahai to
its source, thence by a straight line to the
summit of the mountain Maungataniwha. On
the East by a straight line from the summit of
Maungataniwha to the south-western extremity
of Omapere lake, and thence to Ruapekapeka.
On the South and the South-east by a straight
line from Ruapekapeka to the summit of
Tutamoi, thence by a straight line to Mongo-
nui Bluff on the west coast. On the West by
the sea.
KAIPARA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line from Mon-
gonui Bluff to the summit of Tutamoi, thence
to Ruapekapeka. On the East by the Waima
and Wairoa rivers to the Tauraroa stream, by
that stream, by the western boundaries of the
Ruarangi, Ruakaka, Waipu, Mangawai and
Iku-a-Ranganui blocks, thence by the Hotea
river to Tapora channel On the South by
the mid-channel from Tapora to Kaipara
Heads. On the West by the sea from Kaipara
to Mongonui Bluff.
WANGAREI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line from Rua-
pekapeka to the source of the Ngunguru river,
and by the channel of that river to the sea. On
the East by the sea from Ngunguru to Wan-
garei, and by the channel of that harbour south
and west of Limestone Island to Mangapai. On
the South by the Mangapai channel, by the
south boundary of the Maunga Karamea block,
and by the Tauraroa stream to the Wairoa. On
the West by the Wairoa and Wairua rivers to
Ruapekapeka.
WAIPU DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the south boun-
dary of the Maunga Karamea block to Manga-
pai channel, by that ohannel to Wangarei
channel, south and west of Limestone Island.
On the East by the sea from Limestone Island
to Bream Tail. On the South by a line along
the Range from Bream Tail to the western
boundary of the Waipu block. On the West
by the boundaries of Waipu, Ruakaka and
Ruarangi blocks.
MANGAWAI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line from the
western boundary of Waipu along the Range
to Bream Tail. On the East by the sea from
Bream Tail to Hawere Island. On the South
by the line from Hawere known as the division
between the Electoral Districts of Marsden and
the Northern Division. On the West by the
Hotea river and by the western boundaries of
of the Iku-a-Ranganui and Mangawai blocks..
