be appointed in their place. And whereas in
consequence of the absence from the Province
of several of the Persons who have been ap-
pointed to be Trustees of the Savings Bank
established at New Plymouth, it is expedient
that all the present Trustees should be removed
from Office, and that those who are resident in
the Province and are willing to act should be
re-appointed.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in
me vested by the said recited Act, I, Thomas
Gore Browne, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby remove from the Office
of Trustee of the Savings Bank established at New
Plymouth every person who has been appointed
Trustee and who now holds the said Office.
And I do hereby nominate and re-appoint each
of the persons hereinafter named to be a Trus-
tee of the said Bank; namely :β

Sir,-I have received your Despatch No. 18,
of the 18th March, forwarding two Commissa-
riat Certificates, the one for thirty-two pounds
fifteen shillings and nine-pence in favour of the
Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, on ac-
count of British Income Tax, the other for
thirty-four pounds one shilling and ten pence
in favour of the Royal Patriotic Fund on ac-
count of subscriptions raised in Otago and
Auckland.
The first of those Certificates has been sent
to the Treasury, and the second to the Com-
missioners for the above Fund, whose receipt,
together with a copy of the letter which ac-
companied it, is now annexed.

Sir,-I have the honour to acknowledge the
receipt of your letter of the 2nd instant, trans-
mitting by direction of Secretary Sir E. Bulwer
Lytton, a Commissariat Certificate for thirty-
four pounds one shilling and tenpence from the
Governor of New Zealand, a Receipt for which
I have the honour to enclose; of which amount
thirty-two pounds ten shillings and tenpence
have been collected at Otago, and the remain-
ing one pound eleven shillings is the balance of
the Auckland contributions; and I am further
directed to request the favour of the Governor
conveying to all engaged in this act of bene-
volence the best thanks of the Royal Commis-
sioners.
