lowing NOTICE TO MARINERS.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
No. 3.
ENGLAND—SCILLY ISLANDS.
Fixed Light on Bishop Rock.
The Corporation of the Trinity House of
London have given notice, that on or about 1st
of September, 1858, a light will be exhibited
from the lighthouse in course of erection on
Bishop Rock, the South-westernmost of the
Scilly group, lying W. N., 4 miles from St.
Agnes Island.

The light will be a fixed white light, placed
at an elevation of 110 feet above the sea at
high water, and visible in clear weather at a
distance of 14 miles all round the horizon.
The illuminating apparatus will be dioptric
or refracting, of the first order.

The light tower stands in lat. 49° 52' 30"
N., long. 6° 26' 20" west of Greenwich.
[All bearings magnetic. Variation 24° West.
in 1857.]

Lights List, No. 1.
