PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of the
most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief
in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral
of the same.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the session holden in the nineteenth and twen-
tieth years of Her Majesty, No. 22, intituled
"The Waste Lands Act, 1856," it is enacted
that no land acquired from the aboriginal
inhabitants, after the passing thereof, shall be
open for sale or disposal until the Governor
shall have notified, by Proclamation in the
New Zealand Government Gazette, that the
Native Title has been extinguished over such
land.

Now, therefore, I, the Governor, do hereby
proclaim and notify that the Native Title has
been extinguished over the Block of Land the
boundaries whereof are mentioned or described
in the Schedule hereunto annexed.

Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of the
Colony of New Zealand,
at Government House, at
Auckland, this twenty-first
day of January, in the year
of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty-
eight.

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND.
DISTRICT OF WHANGAROA.
Wharauroa Block.
About 8,000 Acres.

The boundaries commence at Pakoka Creek
adjoining the land which was given for School
purposes some time since, at Maramatae Ahoaho;
and on to Manukariki; and on to a Stony
Whainui, and to Wahakihaki, and
crossing to Ngutu Pungarehu and Manga-
wapuhi, Kainamunamu, and on to Te
Kiri, thence it goes inland to Pakaraka, Te
Whataipu thence on through the forest to Te
Ohe at the Pakihi Creek, and thence on to the
Tuporotangirca Mountain, according to com-
pass 50Β° 0'; thence on by the side of Waha-
tane to the land sold by Hemi Matini; and on
to Te Waiwherowhero at Waitetuna; thence
on in the Waitetuna river to Tawataeaka;
thence turning, and going on to Whaurimu to
the dead rimu (tree); thence along the survey
line to Patoa, Pukeruru, Tukuwaru and on
to Tutaenui, thence on in the Tutaenui
Creek to the boundary of Mr. Ligar's purchase;
thence along the inland boundary of Mr. Ligar's
purchase to the Awhea; thence descending
to the Pakoka river; thence going along the
inland boundary of the School land and on to
the Ahoaho--where the boundaries
join.
