HIS Excellency the Governor will hold a
Levée at Government House, on Monday,
the 24th instant, at 2 p.m., in honor of Her
Majesty's Birth-day.

REGULATIONS FOR THE LEVEE, 24TH INST.
Gentlemen proposing to attend the Levée
will assemble in the Hall, except those gentle-
men who have received cards for the entrée,
who will enter at the West entrance.
All gentlemen attending the Levée to be
dressed in evening costume.
Each gentleman to be provided with two
cards, with his name legibly written thereon,
one card to be left on the table at the entrance,
and the other to be given to the Private
Secretary.

pleased to direct the publication of the
following Despatch and its enclosure, respecting
the Examination of Candidates for employment
in the Civil Service of India.

Sir,—I transmit to you inclosed, a printed
Notification of an Examination which is to
take place in July next, of Candidates for the
Service of the East India Company; and I
have to request that you will give every pub-
licity to that Notification in the Colony under
your Government.

CIVIL SERVICE OF THE EAST INDIA
COMPANY.

In July, 1858, an examination wil take
place of candidates for appointments to the
Civil Service of the East India Company.
Notice will be hereafter given of the days and
place of examination. -
Any natural-born subject of Her Majesty,
who shall be desirous of entering the Civil
Service of the East India Company, will be
entitled to be examined at such examination,
provided he shall, on or before the 1st of May,
1858, have transmitted to the Indian Board,
Cannon Row, Westminster:—
(a) A certificate of his birth, showing
that his age, on the 1st May, 1858,
will be above eighteen years and under
twenty-three years.
(b) A certificate, signed by a physician or
surgeon, of his having no disease, con-
