✨ Judicial Appointments and Legislative Notices
within which there shall be holden Courts of
Sessions of the Peace, at such times and places
as the Governor shall, by Proclamation, from
time to time appoint.
Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pur-
suance of the power in me vested in that behalf,
do, by this Proclamation, constitute the
PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY to be a DISTRICT
within which there shall be holden Sessions of
the Peace, and I do appoint that such Sessions
of the Peace shall be holden at the Town of
Christchurch, in the said Province, on the first
days of March, June, September, and De-
cember, in every year.
Provided always that in case any one of
the said days shall happen to be on a Sunday,
then the Sessions of the Peace appointed for
such day shall be holden on the day following.

grant a Representative Constitution to the
Colony of New Zealand, 15 and 16 Victoria, a
Writ of Summons has been issued to

Wellington,
calling him to the Legislative Council of New
Zealand.

on the 6th January, 1857, with the advice of
his Executive Council, he gave his assent to
two Bills passed by the Provincial Council of
the Province of Canterbury, intituled respec-
tively "The Canterbury Association's Deben-
ture Ordinance," 1856, and "The Waste Lands
Regulations Amendment Ordinance," 1856,
reserved for His Excellency's assent under the
provisions of the Constitution Act.

Electoral District of the Wairarapa and
Hawke's Bay, 1857," reserved for his Excel-
lency's assent, under the provisions of the Con-
stitution Act.

month of April at the Bay of Islands, as
stated in the Gazette notice of the 21st
February, are unavoidably postponed. Due
notice will be given of the time when the
Court will hold its Sittings at Russell, Wan-
garoa, and Mongonui.
