NOTICE.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, March 27th, 1857.
POST OFFICE.
IN conformity with arrangements made
with the Imperial Government, by au-
thority of the General Assembly the following
charges will be made at the several General
Government Post Offices in New Zealand after
the receipt thereat respectively of a copy of
the Government Gazette containing this
notice, viz:-
On all Letters for the United Kingdom via
Southampton, or by a long sea route,
s. d.
Not exceeding 1/2 an ounce in
weight ...................................... 0 6
Exceeding 1/2 an ounce, but not
exceeding 1 ounce ...................... 1 0
Exceeding 1 ounce, but not ex-
ceeding 2 ounces ...................... 2 0
And 1s. additional for every ounce or frac-
tion of an ounce.
On all Letters for the United Kingdom via
Marseilles an additional rate will be charged,
viz.:-
Under 1/4 of an ounce.................... 0 3
Weighing 1/4 of an ounce, and
under 1/2 an ounce ..................... 0 6
Weighing 1/2 an ounce, and under
3/4 of an ounce....................... 0 9
Weighing 3/4 of an ounce, and
under 1 ounce ........................... 1 0
And one additional rate of 3 pence for each
1/4 of an ounce, or fraction of a quarter of an
ounce.
