I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of
Births, Deaths, and Marriages for New Zea-
land, do hereby certify that the foregoing
Names of OFFICIATING MINISTERS for 1857,
within the meaning of the "Marriage Act,
1854," have been sent in to me, in addition to
the Names in the List published in the New
Zealand Government Gazette of the 28th of
January in the present year.

patch from Her Majesty's Principal Secre-
tary of State for the Colonies conferring the
title of "Honorable" on Members of the
Legislative Council and on the Speaker of the
House of Representatives should be published
for general information.

SIR, I have received and laid before the
Queen your Despatch, No. 87, of the 28th
May, requesting Her Majesty's approval of the
distinction of "Honorable" which, in a Ga-
zette Notice whereof you transmit a copy, you
had provisionally conferred upon the President
of the Legislative Council and on the Speaker
of the Legislative Assembly.
You also request that the same title may be
given to the Members of the Legislative
Council.
In reply I am commanded to inform you that
I have submitted both these applications to
Her Majesty, who has been graciously pleased
to assent thereto, and I am commanded accor-
dingly to signify to you Her Majesty's pleasure
that all the Members of the Legislative Council
and the Speaker of the House of Assembly,
should be entitled to the titular designation of"Honorable," and should be so described in
the several Acts and Instruments which may
be issued under your authority.

SIR, I transmit for your information the
copy of a Despatch which has been addressed
to me by the Governor of New South Wales,
with a copy of my reply, upon the question of
conferring the title of "Honorable" on the
President and other Members of the Legisla-
tive Council; and on the Speaker of the Legis-
lative Assembly.
You will perceive that the Queen has been
pleased to allow all these persons to enjoy the
said distinction, and I am now commanded to
signify to you Her Majesty's pleasure that the
same privilege be extended to those who hold
corresponding positions in the Colony under
your Government.

SIR, I have received your Despatch, No.
80, of 11th August last, transmitting an Ad-
dress from the House of Representatives in
New Zealand to Her Majesty the Queen, on
the occasion of the fall of Sebastopol, with a
letter under the signature of Charles Clifford,
Speaker of the House.
- An address expressive of the loyal and
patriotic feelings of the Commons of New
Zealand, the most distant dependency of the
Crown yet peopled by a British race so
thoroughly united in mind and heart to their
kinsmen in the Mother Country, cannot but be
highly acceptable to Her Majesty whom I
have presented it, and by whom it has been
very graciously received.
