to be Pilot for the Port of Otago;
Mr. LEWIS ACKER
to be Pilot for the New River Harbour and
Foveaux Straits; and
Mr. JAMES SMITH
to be Pilot for the Bluff Harbour.

THE following additional Harbour Regu-
lations for the Province of Canterbury
were approved by his Excellency the Governor
in Council January 20th, 1857.

E. W. STAFFORD.

All Masters or persons for the time being
in charge of any ships or vessels in Port
Victoria are to get their sprit sail and other
yards fore and aft, to rig in their driver and
jib booms, and their bowsprits (in any craft
having a running bowsprit) when ordered to do
so by the Harbour Master or his assistant, under
a penalty of Five Pounds.

To facilitate the removing and the placing
of vessels in their proper berths at any wharf
or wharves, the masters or persons for the time
being in charge of any ships or vessels in Port
Victoria are to slack down their stream cables,
and other fastenings, and also their bower
chains when ordered to do so by the Harbour
Master or his assistant, under a penalty of
Five Pounds.

If any master or person in charge of a vessel
as aforesaid shall interfere with the Harbour
Master or his assistant in the execution of his
duty in regard to such vessel, so as to resist or
impede him in the proper performance thereof,
such master or person aforesaid shall forfeit and
pay for every such offence a sum of Ten
Pounds sterling.

The Harbour Master or his assistant, or any
Pilot while removing any vessel from one anchor-
age to another, may make her fast to any other
vessel, or to any warp or wharf: any person
resisting the same, or cutting away, slacking
off or casting off the warp or fastening, shall
forfeit a sum of Five Pounds.
