And whereas by the said Act it is further
enacted that every Provincial Council shall
continue for the period of four years from the
day of return of the Writs for choosing the
same, and no longer. Provided always that
it shall be lawful for the Governor of New
Zealand by Proclamation or otherwise, to dis-
solve the same whenever he shall think it ex-
pedient so to do.
Now, therefore I the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do, by this Procla-
mition, dissolve the Provincial Council of
the said Province of Canterbury accordingly.

he has, this day, given his assent to the follow-
ing Bills passed by the Provincial Council of
the Province of Wellington, intituled "An Act
tanthosive the Superintentlh36 ipus Land
Scrip to satisfy awards of Commissioners under
Act Session II, No. 12, of the Provincial
Council, 1857," and "An Act to extend the time
for adjudication on certain claims to Scrip,
1857;" which Bills were reserved for His Excel-
lency's assent, under the provisions of the Consti-
tution Act.

day of September next, to come in and prove
their debts before LAUGHLIN O'BRIEN, Esq.,
at his Office in the Court House, Queen-street,
Auckland; or in default thereof, they will be
peremptorily excluded from all benefit arising
from the said estate.
