passed by the Provincial Council shall be pre-
sented to the Superintendent for the Gover-
or's assent, and that the Superintendent shall
declare, according to his discretion (but subject
nevertheless to the provisions of the said Act
contained, and to such instructions as may from
time to time be given him by the Governor)
that he assents to such Bill on behalf of the
Governor, or that he withholds the assent of
the Governor, or that he reserves such Bill for
the signification of the Governor's pleasure
thereon: and it is by the said Act further enac-
ted, that it shall be lawful for the Governor
from time to time to transmit to the Superin-
tendent of any Province, for his guidance in
assenting to or withholding assent from Bills, or
reserving the same for the signification of the
Governor's pleasure thereon, such instructions
as to the Governor shall seem fit, and that it
shall be the duty of the Superintendent to act
in obedience to such instructions.
Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New
Zealand, in exercise of the powers thereby
vested in me, do hereby direct and enjoin you
that you do not assent, on behalf of the Go-
vernor, to any Bill passed by the Provincial
Council of the Province of
for the
purpose of raising money by the way of loan,
but that you do reserve every such Bill for the
signification of the Governor's pleasure
thereon.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Sitting of
the Supreme Court, for the despatch of
Criminal business, will be holden at the Court
House, Auckland, on Wednesday, the Third
day of June next, at Ten o'clock in the fore-
noon; and that a Sitting for despatch of Civil
business will be holden at the Court House on
Monday, the Eighth day of June next, at Ten
o'clock in the forenoon, at which times and
place all persons under Recognizance to appear
as Prosecutors, Defendants, or Witnesses, are
required to give their attendance,
