HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint the following officers:-

The REGISTRAR OF MARRIAGES in the Mo-
tueka District - ALEXANDER LE GRAND
CAMPBELL,

The REGISTRAR OF MARRIAGES in the Wai-
rau District - FRANCIS LONGBOURNE
VICKERMAN,

The REGISTRAR OF MARRIAGES in the
Amuri Districts - EDWARD JOLLIB,
to be Deputy-Registrars of Births and Deaths,
under the Registration Ordinance, (Session 8,
No. 9,) for such Districts respectively.

instant.

CONTRACTS FOR SERVICE OF
GENERAL GOVERNMENT.

Colonial Secretary's Office, Auckland,
23rd January, 1856.

TENDERS will be received at this Office,
until noon on Monday, the 18th February,
for furnishing the General Government with
the undermentioned supplies, in such quanti-
ties as may be required, during the six months
commencing on the 1st April next.

FIREWOOD;

At per ton, for the usual size, and also for
such as may be required to be cut and split to
a size to suit the fire-places in the Public
Offices; to be delivered at the several Public
Offices.

PRINTING.

Colonial Secretary's Office, Auckland,
January 23rd, 1856.

TENDERS will be received at this Office
until noon on Monday, the 18th Feb., for
printing the "Government Gazette," and for
such other Printing as may be required for
the service of the General Government,
during the twelve calendar months com-
mencing on the 1st April next.

The Printing will be divided into two por-
tions-first, the "Government Gazette," Bills,
Acts, and Estimates; second, Blank Forms,
and all other work not included in the first
portion, either or both of which may be ten-
dered for by one person.

Security will be required for the due per-
formance of the contract.

Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed and en-
dorsed "Tenders for Printing."

Specifications of the work may be seen, and
further particulars obtained, by application at
this office.

NOTICE.

NOTICE is hereby given that a portion of
a wooden Building, situated in Queen-
street, being No 2, Macfarlane's Building,
occupied by Messrs. Bain, Pierce, & Co., has
been approved under the 34th section of the
Customs Amendment Ordinance, 4th Victoria,
No. 3, for the reception of dry goods under
Bond, at this Port.

I HEREBY give notice that the License
granted for the storing of dry Goods under
Bond, in a portion of the Building known as
Messrs. Bain & Co.'s in Lower Queen-street,
has been cancelled.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Colonial Secretary's Office, Auckland,
23rd January, 1856.

HIS Excellency the Governor, in Council,
directs it to be notified that a Signal
Station has been erected at the mouth of the
river Whanganui, Province of Wellington,
and a Signal Man appointed whose duty it
will be to give information necessary to
masters of vessels on entering and leaving
the Port.

His Excellency further directs it to be no-
tified that under the Harbour Regulations
Ordinance, Session 2 No. 15, from and after
the 15th February, 1856, all masters of
vessels (except coasters) will be required to
pay a pilotage or due of sixpence per ton on
entering and leaving the river.
