HIS Excellency the Governor, directs it to
be notified for general information that
he will hold a Levee at the new Government
House, on Saturday the 24th inst., at two
o'clock, p.m., in honor of Her Majesty's
Birthday.

be notified for general information, that
in virtue of the power vested in him by the
New Zealand Constitution Act, 15th and 16th
Victoria, Section 38, he has been pleased to ap-
point,

to be Speaker of the Legislative Council of
New Zealand, in the room of the Honourable
Frederick Whitaker, Esq., M.L.C., resigned.
