from Her Majesty's Secretary of State
should be published for general informa-
tion.

I transmit to you herewith a copy of
the Letters Patent under the Royal Sign
Manual constituting the Royal Commis-
sion of the Patriotic Fund.

Although the existence of this commis-
sion is no doubt already generally known
in the Colony under your Government, I
have thought it right to communicate to
you a copy of this instrument, with a view
of giving more general publicity to the ar-
rangements which have been adopted for
the application of those funds which may
be raised by benevolent contributions to-
wards supporting the wives and families of
the soldiers, sailors, and marines serving
in Her Majesty's armies and fleets who
may fall in the course of the present war.
