Act not to extend to
marriages of natives.

Interpretation.
Short title.
-
Nothing herein contained shall apply to any marriage
which may be contracted otherwise than according to the pro-
visions of this Act, between two persons both of the Native Abo-
riginal Race. Provided that this Act shall come into operation
in respect of Marriages between persons of the said Race, in such
districts, and at such times, as the Governor shall by procla-
mation from time to time appoint. Provided also that persons
of the Aboriginal Native Race, may, if they desire, contract marriage
according to the provisions of this Act. -
All fees collected under the authority of this Act, by
any Registrar, shall be accounted for quarterly, and paid over to
the Colonial Treasurer or to such other person as the Governor
shall direct, for the public uses of the Colony, and for the sup-
port of the Government thereof. -
The word "Governor" in this Act shall include the
Officer Administering the Government for the time being.
50 This Act shall be entitled, and may be cited as the " Mar-
riage Act 1854."

To the Registrar of Marriages for the District of
I hereby give you notice that a Marriage is intendeid to be had within three calender
months from the date hereof, between me and the other party herein named and described, that
is to say-
