Seventh Anniversary of the Establish-
ment of the Colony, His Excellency the Lieu-
tenant-Governor has been pleased to direct
that day to be held a General Holiday, on
which occasion the Public Offices will be
closed.

LAND CLAIMS' COMMISSION.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 25th January, 1847.

HIS Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor
having been pleased to appoint

HENRY MATSON, Esq.,

a Major in H. M. 58th Regt., to be a Com-
missioner for examining and reporting on
all Claims to Compensation preferred accord-
ing to the provisions of "An Ordinance,
Session 7, No. 22, intituled "An Ordinance
to authorize Compensation in Colonial De-
bentures to be made to certain Claim ants
to Land in the Colony of New Zealand."
Notice is hereby given, that the said Com-
missioner hath taken the oath prescribed by
the said Ordinance, and entered on the duties
of his office, and that he intends to investi-
gate the undermentioned Claim, at the Council
Chamber, on Monday, the first day of Fe-
bruary, 1847, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon.

All parties interested are hereby summoned
to be in attendance with their documents and
witnesses.

Case No. 1. Pre-emption Certificate No. 219.
-HENRY HAYE, of Epsom, settler.

3 acres, Three acres, situate on the great
swamp near Mount St. John; bounded on
the east by Dilworth's land, on the west by
Henry Hayr's former purchase; on the north
by land of George May, and on the south by
land of Joseph May.

Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Wetere and Apera.
Consideration—one pound sterling.

LAND CLAIMS' COMMISSION.

HIS Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor
having been pleased to appoint

HENRY MATSON, Esq.,

a Major in the 58th Regt., to be a Commis-
sioner for examining and reporting on all
Claims to Land under the Proclamation of the
26th March, 1844, the Commissioner hereby
notifies that he intends to investigate the un-
mentioned Claims at the Council Chamber, on
the 1st of February, 1847, at 10 o'clock in
the forenoon.

The Cases will be heard in the order in
which they stand in the following List, and
all parties interested are hereby summoned to
be in attendance, with their documents and
witnesses.
