PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency GEORGE GREY,
Esquire, Lieutenant-Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majes-
ty's Colony of New Zealand, and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS an Ordinance was enacted
by the Lieutenant-Governor of New
Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council thereof, Session 7, No.
16, intituled "An Ordinance to provide for
the Establishment of Resident Magistrates'
Courts, and to make special provision for the
Administration of Justice in certain cases."

And whereas an Ordinance was in like manner
enacted, Session 7, No. 15, intituled "An Or-
dinance to repeal the Police Magistrates' Ordi-
nance and the Native Exemption Ordinance."

And whereas it was provided by the said re-
cited Ordinances, that they should respectively
come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1847, or on such
earlier day, and either throughout the Colony,
or within any District or Districts thereof, as
His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor
should by Proclamation direct and appoint.

Now, I, the Lieutenant-Governor, pursuant
to the authority in me vested, do hereby direct
and appoint that the said recited Ordinances
shall this day wholly come into operation
within that part of the Colony of New Zealand
comprised within the boundaries hereafter de-
scribed, (that is to say), commencing at the
South Head of the Mokou River on the West
Coast, thence by a line to Kidnapper's Point
on the East Coast, thence on the East Coast,
including the Islands adjacent, to the parallel
of 36° of south latitude, thence by the parallel
of 36° by the West Coast, and thence by the
West Coast to the South Head of the Mokou
River.

SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a Sitting of
the Supreme Court for the despatch
of Criminal business, will be holden at the
Court House, in Auckland, on Tuesday, the
first day of December, next, at ten o'clock in
the Forenoon; at which time and place, all
persons under recognizances to appear, either
as prosecutors, defendants, or witnesses, are
required to give their attendance.

TRANSFER OF LICENSES.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Justices
for the Town and District of Auckland,
will be holden on Tuesday, the 1st day of
December, next, at the Police Office, Auck-
land, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, for
the purpose of receiving applications for the
Transfer of Publicans' Licenses.
