PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency ROBERT FITZROY, Esquire, Captain in Her Majesty's Royal Navy, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS it has become necessary to establish a blockade of the Bay of Islands—in order to prevent intercourse with the Natives who are in arms against Her Majesty—aud, as a measure of precaution for the safety of vessels which might be surprised :—
I, the Governor, do hereby proclaim and declare, that no Merchant vessel will be allowed to remain in, or have any intercourse with the Bay of Islands during the continuance of such blockade.
Given under my Hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Colony, at Government House, Auckland, this seventeenth day of April, in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty-five.
