PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency ROBERT FITZROY, Esquire, Captain in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS it has become necessary to extend the Blockade of the Coast between Wangarei and Wangaroa—proclaimed on the nineteenth day of May last—along the remainder of the Coast as far as Monganui and Doubtless Bay, inclusive—in order to prevent intercourse with the Natives who are in arms against Her Majesty—and, as a measure of precaution for the safety of vessels which might be surprised :—

I, the Governor, do hereby proclaim and declare, that no Merchant vessel will be allowed to remain in, or have any intercourse with the above-mentioned places during the continuance of such Blockade.

Given under my Hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Colony, at Government House, (L. S.) Auckland, this second day of June, in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty-five.
