pleased to direct that the following Ap-
pointments announced in the New Zealand
Gazette & Wellington Spectator of the 24th
February, 1844, be republished for general
information.

Major MATHEW RICHMOND,
of Her Majesty's 96th Regiment,
to be Superintendent of the Southern Division
of New Zealand. Date of appointment, 1st
February, 1844.

ARTHUR EDWARD MACDONOGH, Esquire,
to be Chief Police Magistrate at Wellington.
Date of appointment, 1st February, 1844.

Mr. ALFRED ROWLAND CHETHAM,
to be Clerk to the Bench at Wellington. Date
of appointment, 1st February, 1844.

Mr. THOMAS HENRY FITZGERALD,
to be an Assistant Surveyor. Date of appoint-
ment, 1st February, 1844.

DONALD SINCLAIR, Esquire,
to be Chief Police Magistrate in the District of
Nelson. Date of appointment, 7th February,
1844.

Mr. Sinclair will act as the Representative
of Government at Nelson, subject to the con-
trol of His Honor the Superintendent of the
Southern Division of New Zealand. Date of
appointment, 7th February, 1844.

JOHN DAMFORTH GREENWOOD, and
JAMES SWINTON SPOONER, Esquires,
of Nelson, to be Justices of the Peace in New
Zealand. Date of appointments, 7th February,
1844.
