Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 16th January, 1844.

WITH reference to the Proclamation under
this date, notifying an intended Sale of
Town and Suburban Lots, on the 29th day of
January instant, His Excellency the Governor
has been pleased to direct the publication, for
general information, of the following Extract
of a Letter from Mr. Under Secretary Hope to
Joseph Somes, Esq., Governor of the New
Zealand Company, dated Downing Street, 12th
May, 1843.

"The Company propose :-

1st. "To purchase £50,000 worth of Land
in Auckland, and its vicinity; £10,000 worth,
at least, to be in the Town, and £25,000 worth,
at least, to be in the Country; the Company
taking the remaining £15,000 worth of Land in
Town, Suburban, or Country Lots, provided
they do not take more altogether in Suburban
than Town Lots.

2nd. "That the Town Lots be purchased by
auction, and that they be offered at the upset
price of £100 per acre; as far as practicable,
however, such Lots to be put up together in
parcels of 10 acres each, and the whole Lands
applied for in the Town by the Company at any
one time to be sold on the same day, unless
otherwise settled at the request of their Agent,
and with the assent of the Governor.

3rd. "The Suburban Lots to be sold by
auction. If the Company apply at one and the
same time for one hundred acres or upwards,
the whole to be put together at one general
upset price of £5 per acre.

4th. "That the Country Lots should follow
the Rule established by the Land Sales' Act.

5th. "That credit be given to the Company,
by the Land and Emigration Commissioners,
for the sum of £50,000, in consideration of their
abandoning their claim to 50,000 acres of Land,
out of the whole quantity to which they are
already entitled."

"Lord Stanley directs me to state his assent
to these proposals."

SALE OF GOVERNMENT STORES.

MR. NATHAN has received instructions to
offer for Public Sale, on Monday, the 5th
February, 1844, at the Government Store, at 12
o'clock precisely, a quantity of Stores, consisting
of a large quantity of Iron, Bullock and Pack
Harness, Shoemakers', Garden, Blacksmiths',
Carpenters', and other Tools, Clothing, Blankets,
&c. Further particulars may be had by apply-
ing to the Auctioneer, or at the Colonial Store.
January 27th, 1844.

NOTICE

IS hereby given, that Mr. FREDERICK JOHN
MULLINS has sold the Shares held by him
in the New Zealand Banking Company, and
ceased from the 17th January, 1844, to have
any interest in the said Company.
January 20th, 1844.

In the County Court of Wellington, in the South-
ern District of New Ulster, New Zealand.

ISAAC WINDSOR, deceased, Intestate.

PURSUANT to the Rule of this Honorable
Court, the creditors of the above-named
deceased are, on or before the 15th day of Feb-
ruary, 1844, to come in and prove their claims
before Robert Rodger Strang, Esquire, Clerk of
said Court, at his Office, in the Court House,
Wellington, or in default thereof they will be
peremptorily excluded from all benefit arising
from the said estate.

ERRATUM. -In the List of Suburban Lots
for Sale on the 30th January, 1844, for
"three hundred and sixty-eight acres, more or
less," read "three hundred and sixty-three
acres, two roods, and seven perches, more or
less." Section No. 3, for "twenty-two acres,
three roods, and thirty perches," read "eighteen
acres, three roods, and thirty-six perches."
Section No. 4, for "one hundred and thirteen
acres, three roods, and thirty-five perches,"
read "one hundred and thirteen acres."
