HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct the publication, for.
general information, of the following Despatch
from Lord Stanley.

SIR,βWith reference to my Dispatch No. 31,
of the 9th instant, I transmit to you herewith,
for your information and guidance, a Copy of a
letter from the Secretary to the Board of Trea-
sury, with the Copy of one from Mr. J. H.
Wray, the holder of the Three Bills for Five
Thousand Pounds each, drawn by Captain Hob-
son, the acceptance of which has been refused
by the Lords Commissioners, and stating the
Terms and Conditions on which the Local Gov-
ernment were authorized to issue Debentures
for the amount of these Bills.

GOVERNMENT NOTICE.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 7th May, 1844.
HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to
be notified, that a Bill will be laid before
the Legislative Council, at the earliest possible
period, to authorise the issue of Debentures to
the amount of not more than fifteen thousand
pounds; and to make such Debentures issued
iu this Colony legal tenders in payment of any
debt or demand whatsoever.

Auckland, 18th March, 1844.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct it to be notified for
general information, that persons intending to
apply for Private Ordinances during the ensu-
ing Session of the Legislative Council, must
transmit drafts of the Bills to the Clerk of
Councils, on or before the 31st day of May next.
