HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint, at the recommenda-
tion of the Acting Collector of Customs,

Mr. CHRISTOPHER ATWILL HARRIS,

to be Clerk to the Collector of Customs, vice
Mr. W. L. Staudinger, whose resignation has
been accepted, and is to take effect from the 5th
proximo.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct that

Mr. G. S. COOPER,

at present borne as a Supernumerary Clerk on
the Establishment of the Colonial Secretary, be
transferred to that of the Clerk of Councils,
and to appoint

Mr. J. W. LEECH

to be an Assistant Clerk in the Department of
tho Colonial Secretary. The foregoing arrange-
ments to have effect from the 1st instant.

COLONIAL BUILDINGS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 30th March, 1844.

NOTICE is hereby given that Tenders will
be received at this Office until noon on
Monday the 15th day of April next, from per-
sons who may be willing to enter into a Contract
for the erection of a new Guard Room at the
Gaol.

Security will be required for the due perform-
ance of the Contract, and a declaration of the
consent of the proposed sureties is to be appen-
ded to the Tender.

Plans and Specifications of the work may be
seen at the Office of the Superintendent of Pub-
lic Works.
