PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency ROBERT FITZROY,
Esquire, Captain in Her Majesty's Royal
Navy, Governor and Commander-in-Chief
in and over the Colony of New Zealand,
and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, Her Majesty has been gra-
ciously pleased, by Letters Patent,
under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Ireland, bearing date the
seventh day of April, in the Year of Our Lord
1843, to constitute and appoint me, ROBERT
FITZROY, Esquire, Captain in H. M. Royal
Navy, to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief
in and over H. M. Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and of all Forts and Garrisons
which were or should be established in the said
Colony: And Her Majesty did require and
command all Officers and Ministers, Civil and
Military, and all other the Inhabitants of the
said Colony, to be obedient to, aiding and as-
sisting me in the execution of H. M. Commis-
sion.

Now, therefore, I, ROBERT FITZROY, do
hereby proclaim and declare, that I have, this
day, taken the prescribed Oaths, and assumed
the administration of the Government, accord-
ingly; And I hereby call upon the Inhabitants
of the Colony, to be aiding and assisting me
therein.

twenty-sixth day of December,
in the Year of Our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and forty-
three.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency ROBERT FITZROY,
Esquire, Captain in Her Majesty's Royal
Navy, and Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice Admiral of the same, &c.,
&c., &c.

WHEREAS, by Letters Patent, under the
Seal of the High Court of Ad-
miralty of England, bearing date the twenty-
ninth day of April, one thousand eight hundred
and forty-three, Her Majesty has been gra-
ciously pleased to ordain, constitute, and depute
me, ROBERT FITZROY, Esquire, Captain in Her
Majesty's Royal Navy, Her Majesty's Vice-
Admiral, Commissary and Deputy in the Office
of Vice-Admiralty in Her Colony of New Zea-
land, and the Territories thereon depending.

Now, I, ROBERT FITZROY, do hereby pro-
claim and declare this Her Majesty's pleasure,
and that I have this day assumed the powers
and authorities vested in me, by virtue of the
said commission.
