at the mouth of a creek called Orua, on the left
bank of the River Piako, which empties itself
into the frith of the Thames, to run from the
mouth of the said creek due west by compass to
the summit of a hill called Mangakawa; then
south by west to the summit of a hill called Tu-
kenui; thence south by west to another hill cal-
led Pukemoko; and then south by west along
the division line of the Piako and Waikato land
to a point due west from the western extremity
of a low ridge of hills called Panawhau; then
due east from the said point to the west extremity
of the said range of low hills, and along the said
range to the eastern extremity; and then due
east to the river Piako; and then to follow the
river Piako downwards, northwardly, to the
mouth of the said creek Orua, to the commence-
ment.

Alleged to have been purchased on the 31st
December, 1839, from the native Chiefs
Koinaki, Hanauri, Tekoe-koe Tewareponga
Hwareteatoa, Ngatireuhea, Ngatihwata,
Tumakoe, 1 Tamaho, and Tekerako, by
Mr. William Webster, who sold a moiety
to Mr. Peter Abercrombie, wko sold a
tenth part of his interest to Mr. Drake,
who thus claims a twentieth part of the
land above described.

Consideration—various articles of merchan-
dize, value not stated.

Webster, dated 31st December, 1839.

Case No. 83—R. J. DUNLOP, of Sydney, mer-
chant, claimant in part.

80,000, Eighty thousand acres, more or less,
being all that piece or tract of land situated and
bounded in manner following; (that is to say), com-
mencing at the mouth of a creek called Qrua,
on the left bank of the river Piako, which emp-
ties itself into the frith of the Thames, to run from the
mouth of the said creek due west by compass,
to the summit of a hill called Mangakawa;
then south by west to the summit of a hill called
Tukenui; then south by west to another bill
called Pukemoko: then south by west along the
division line of the Piako and Waikato land,
to a point due west from the western extremity
of a low ridge of hills called Panawhau; then
due east from the same point to the west extre-
mity of the said range of low hills and along the
said range to the eastern extremity; and then
due east to the river Piako; and then to follow
the river Piako downwards in a northwardly di-
rection, to the mouth of the said creek Orua, to

all that piece or tract of land situated and boun-
ded in manner following, (that is to say,) com-

15,360, Fifteen thousand thiree hundred and
sixty acres, more or less. being a tract of land
the north island of New Zealand, situated on
the west bank of the river Piako, commencing
at about fifty five miles from the sea, by the
river; has a frontage of four miles south or up-
wards by the river; bounded on the north by
land of Captain M'Lean; on the south by land
of Mr. John Phair, and runs back to the land
of the Waikato tribe,

Alleged to have been purchased from Koe-
naki, and other chiefs, on the 31st Decem-
ber, 1839.
