THE attention of the Heads of De-
partments is particularly called
to the necessity for sending in to the
Office of the Colonial Secretary early on
Saturday, whatever is intended for pub-
lication in the Government Gazette on
the ensuing Wednesday, as non-atten-
tion to this rule has in some instances
delayed the publication of the Ga-
zette. .

Heads of Departments are further
requested to cause the Government
Gazette to be carefully filed in their
respective offices, as they will be
expected to transfer that document,
with the other Records, to their suc-
cessors in Office.

CONTRACTS FOR PROVISIONS.

Colonial Seeretary's Office,
Auckland, 28th February, 1842.

THE Tenders for Provisions, submitted in pur-
suance of the advertisement of the 30th ulti-
mo, having been declined, Notice is hereby given
that Tenders will be received at this Office until
Noon on Monday 14th March, for furnishing,
for the Colonial Service, the supplies under-
mentioned, in such quantities as may be required
during twelve Calendar Months, commencing
1st April 1842, upon the conditions hereafter
specified.

Flour, per lb.
Bread, do.
Maize Meal do.
Meat, do.
Sugar, do.
Tea, do.
Tobacco, do.
Soap, do.
Salt, do.
Vegetables do.
Peas, do.
Rum, gallon.

Oatmeal, per lb.
Suet, do.
Raisins, do.
Maize, do.
Firewood, per 100 lbs.
Sperm Oil } per Im. Gal.
Common do. }
Mould Candles } per lb.
Dip Candles }
Cotton Wick,
Vinegar, per gallon.

CONDITIONS.

All the articles required by this Notice are to
be of the best quality of their several kinds.
Vegetables to be supplied in reasonable propor-
tions of potatoes, greens, pumpkins, onions, &c.
The supplies to be delivered on the requisition
of the Head of the Department for which they
are authorized.

The Supplies (not specified in the preceding
paragraph) are to be delivered direct to the par-
ties or Establishments entitled thereto, on the
written order of the person duly authorised for
the purpose.

In the event of a difference of opinion between
the Contractor and the party receiving the sup-
plies, as to the quality, the same is to be decided,
in cases where the article is not of a perishable
nature, by a Board of Survey, according to the
practice of the service.

If the Board shall decide that the article is not
of a proper quality, it must be immediately re-
placed by the Contractor, failing of which it will
be procured by the Department requiring it, and
the expense charged to the Contractor.

In the event of any unnecessary delay or failure
of the Contractor to supply the articles when
