THE attention of the Heads of De-
partments is particularly called
to the necessity for sending in to the
Office of the Colonial Secretary early on
Saturday, whatever is intended for pub-
lication in the Government Gazette on
the ensuing Wednesday, as non-atten-
tion to this rule has in some instances
delayed the publication of the Gazette.

Heads of Departments are further
requested to cause the Government
Gazette to be carefully filed in their
respective offices, as they will be
expected to transfer that document,
with the other Records, to their suc-
cessors in Office.

WITH reference to a Notice in the Govern-
ment Gazette
of the 8th September, 1841,
respecting the pointing out the boundaries, and
giving over possession of certain Lands on the
Manukau Road.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a Surveyor will
be in attendance on the 21st Instant, to point
out to purchasers their respective allotments on
their producing the Colonial Treasurer's Receipt,
in accordance with the Terms in the Notice
above referred to.

Parties desirous of having the position and
boundaries of their Allotments pointed out to
them, are requested to attend on the day above
specified, as no subsequent application will be
entertained.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been
pleased to direct the publication of the
following "Notice to Mariners," having reference
to the approaches to Auckland by Sea, submitted
for general information by the Harbour Master of
this Port.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Harbour Master's Office,
Auckland, 4th Feb. 1842.

Commanders of Vessels steering to or from the
Port of Auckland, should be careful to avoid the
undermentioned dangers :--

A Rock off the North side of the Island of
Waiheke, distant about two miles, even with the
water's edge at high water, with deep water ex-
tending to a short distance around it, from which the
following Bearings and Land Marks were taken:-

North-eastern end of Waiheke, due East (mag.)
Bird Island, E. by N. N.
Northern end of Hura Kia, W. S.
Peak of Rangitoto, S. W. W.
Land Marks. The Hummock at the N. East-
ern extreme of Waiheke, on with Castle Hill, and
the outermost rock marked on the Chart on with
Tiri Tiri Mantangi.

  1. A rock situate to the Eastward of the Island
    of Tiri Tiri Mantangi, distant about one and a
    half miles, having two feet of water on it at low
    water, and fifteen fathoms close to on every side,
    from which the following Bearings were taken-

A remarkable white rocky Islet at the North-
eastern side of Tiri Tiri Mantangi, N. W. by W.
W. (magnetic.)
Southern end of Tiri Tiri Mantangi, S. W. W.
Centre of Little Barrier, inland, due North.
Peak of Rangitoto, S E.
Castle Hill, E S.
