H IS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to be
notified, that His Honor the Chief Justice
has this day taken the Oath of Office, prescribed
by the Supreme Court Ordinance, 5 Victoria,
Session 2, No. 1.

SALE OF MOUNTED POLICE HORSES.

N OTICE is hereby given, that at 12 o'clock,
on WEDNESDAY, the 2nd of February
next, Mr. W. MASON, the Government Auc-
tioneer, will put up to public competition, EIGHT
HORSES, at Woods' Hotel, with Saddles and
Bridles, belonging to the Mounted Police sta-
tioned at Auckland.

The Horses can be seen on application to
Serjeant Quigley, of the Mounted Police, at the
Station, on the 29th instant, and the terms
will be made known by the Auctioneer at the
time of sale.

examining the Public Accounts of the Colony.

SATURDAY, the 29th instant, being the SE-
COND ANNIVERSARY of the Estab-
lishment of the Colony, His Excellency the
GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct that day to
to be held a GENERAL HOLIDAY, on which
occasion the Public Offices will be closed.
