claimant.
1,500, One thousand five hundred acres,
more or less, situated on a creek which flows
into the Monghamuka river, on its southern
bank, named Mongataipa, on both sides of
which creek it lies, and is named the Warou;
bounded on the west side by: a compass line
bearing south-west by west half west from the
creek named; on the east side by a small creek
named the Toki, and on the upper or inland
side by the hill Pinoumou.
Alleged to have been purchased by claimant
in 1835, from the native chiefs Rama and
Kawika.
Consideration: goods to the amount of £42
11s. 8d. sterling.
Nature of conveyance: deed dated 20th Sep-
tember, 1835.
No. 55 а. THOMAS CASSIDY, of Hokianga,
claimant.
1,000, One thousand acres, more or less,
situate on a creek which flows into the Waima
river on its northern bank, named Rirumga;
bounded in front by that creek commencing at
Tauranga-Kotuka, on the left hand side going
up, then taking that also on the opposite side
of said creek, up to, and being on both sides
timber land and known as Pike Wahine, and
running inland one and a half miles to Muter
Kawer, I Tapakor and Waratau noho, on the
left side of the said creek and Te Ite on the
right side.
Alleged to have been purchased by claimant
in 1837, from the native chiefs E Rama,
Nene and others.
Consideration: cash and goods amounting to
£74 6s.
Nature of conveyance: deed dated January,
1837.
No. 58. EDWARD CHEEDWICK and WILLIAM
NICHOLSON, both of Hokianga, claimants.
1000, One thousand acres, more or less, situ-
ate on the river Waima, named Rangiwakatako;
bounded to the west by said river from a spot
called Kotetoura aga tora, to Keriwinua, two
miles river frontage; and from Keriwinua in a
straight line to a single kaurie tree, called Keite
Kauritutahi; from thence along the ridge of
hills called Kangukinipuraauri-Kotuessa to the
Kotetowiangatina; and thence along the creek
Koparau Watiwati to Main or Waitua.
Alleged to have been purchased by William
Nicholas in February 1839, (who sold a
moiety to joint claimants) from the native
chiefs Hawie Pata, Horepa, and others.
Consideration: cash and goods amounting to
£57 2s.
Nature of conveyance: deed dated 1st Feb-
ruary, 1839.
No. 60. CHARLES HENRY CHAMBERS, of
Sydney, claimant,
700, Seven hundred acres, more or less, situa-
ted at Hokianga on the river Onini; bounded
by No. 60 a on the one side; and from a creek
until you get to Cassidy's boundary in the rear.
Alleged to have been purchased by William
Jackson the 2nd December, 1835, who
sold to G. F. Russell, who sold to
Thomas Cassidy, who sold to John
Ryan and Peter. Linch, who sold to J.
M'Crohan, who bought for and conveyed
to Mr. Chambers, from the native chiefs
Pauwa, Hawpa, and Konga.
Consideration: goods valued at £28 6s.
Nature of conveyance: deed to William
Jackson.
No. 60 a. CHARLES HENRY CHAMBERS, of
Sydney, claimant.
1000, One thousand acres, more or less,
situated on the river Onini; bounded by Herd's
Point on one side, that is from a bow-roody tree
in a straight line up to the Pah, and from the
Pah turning from the left by Herd's bounds
until you get to the Wima river, and from the
said tree to John Ryan's and Peter Lynch's
bounds in front, then running their boundary
till it joins John Cassidy's and Mrs. Butler's in
the rear.
Alleged to have been purchased by Jeremiah
M'Crohan on the 28th October, 1839,
(who bought for and conveyed to claimant)
from the native chiefs Peawea, Eperro, and
others.
Consideration: goods valued at £40 10s. 3d.
Nature of conveyance: not stated.
No. 61.-ALEXANDER CHAPMAN, of Hokianga,
claimant.
300, Three hundred acres, more or less,
situated at the entrance of the Mongamuka river
(a branch of the Hokianga) on the right bank;
bounded on the east by a compass line running
due south from a Potara tree, marked with a
notch, to the ridges of the hills; on the south
by the banks of the Mongamuka, running from
the said tree in a west direction as far as a
Mangrove tree, also marked. On the west by
a line east south east, from said tree, to the ridge
of the hills; on the north by the ridge of said
hills.
Alleged to have been purchased by Messrs.
J. Johnstone, and Wm. T. Nicholas, from
the native chiefs Eheare, Rosewaro and
others, through whom claimant derives.
Consideration: cash, £10 19s.
Nature of conveyance: deed dated Septem-
ber 25th, 1839.
