pleased to appoint

ROBERT A. FITZGERALD, Esq.,

to be Registrar for the county of Eden, under
the provisions of the Ordinance of the Governor
and Council of New Zealand, 5 Victoriæ,
Session 2, No. 9.

ONE POUND REWARD.

THE individual named and described below, having been charged with an aggra-
vated assault, on the person of a native
woman, named Rangi, of Matakana, His Excel-
lency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct
the above reward to be given to any person who
shall give such information at the Police Office,
as shall lead to the apprehension of the offender.

Description of John Harper, charged with having
assaulted Rangi, a native woman, residing at
Matakana, in the beginning of July, 1842.

Harper is a very tall man, stands and
walks remarkably upright, of swarthy com-
plexion, dark eyes, very dark strong whiskers,
has three marks similar to pock-marks upon his
nose, and an impediment in his speech. He
came in the Nimrod from Sydney some months
ago, and represented himself to be a native
Australian, but is suspected to be a runaway
from Sydney.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Tenders will
be received at this Office, until noon on
Monday, the 29th instant, from Persons willing
to enter into a Contract to supply the Depart-
ment of Public Works with the under-men-
tioned quantities of Timber :β€”

3000 super. feet inch lining boards.
50 do do 12 in. wide.
100 do inch boarding.
No. 11 boards, 13 ft. by 12 in., by 1 1/4 in. thick,
No. 13 do 8 ft. by 12 in., by 1 1/4 do.
No. 13 joists 13 ft. by 6 in., by 3 do.

To be delivered at the Court House, Queen
Street.

420 super, feet scantling, 6 in. by 3 in.
1300 do flooring boards.
400 do inch boards, 8 in. wide.

To be delivered at the Custom House, Princes
Street.

400 feet 2 inch planks.
300 do 1 do flooring boards.
200 do do lining do.
No. 16 joists, 15 ft. long, 6 by 3:

To be delivered at the Gaol, in Queen Street.

Further information may be procured on ap-
plication at the Office of the Superintendent of
Public Works.
